The Veterinary Emergency Referral Center (VERC) in Pensacola, FL is seeking a full-time Nursing Manager to lead and support our technical support team!

This is a key leadership role for an experienced veterinary nursing professional who is passionate about team development, patient care excellence, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced emergency and specialty environment.

Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience and credentials. 

Anticipated Schedule: Full-time leadership position, up to 40 hours per week. Schedule will align with hospital operational needs, including regular weekends.

About the Role:

The Nursing Manager provides direct oversight of technical support staff and plays a vital role in supporting hospital operations, team development, and clinical excellence. This role partners closely with hospital leadership, nursing supervisors, and the Medical Director to ensure consistency across departments and shifts.

This position is approximately 75% administrative leadership and 25% clinical floor support, blending strategic planning, personnel development, and operational management with hands-on nursing support when needed.

Leadership, Personnel Management, Technical & Operational Responsibilities, and Teamwork & Culture Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and maintain a positive, supportive, and accountable hospital culture while serving as a liaison between leadership and technical staff

  • Support hospital initiatives, policies, and Medical Director priorities through strong, visible leadership

  • Develop and implement structured nursing training, onboarding, and skills assessment programs

  • Coach, mentor, and develop technical staff while supporting performance reviews, improvement plans, and professional growth

  • Partner with nursing supervisors and HR to manage staffing, scheduling adjustments, and daily workflow coverage

  • Provide proactive problem-solving, escalation support, and operational leadership during hospital challenges

  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality patient and client care standards

  • Evaluate workflow efficiency and implement process improvements to support hospital operations and patient care

  • Perform advanced veterinary nursing duties, including inpatient care and triage support, as needed

  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a collaborative team environment while supporting hospital policies and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements for the Role:

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician preferred (CVT, LVT, LVMT, RVT, or equivalent)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a veterinary emergency or specialty hospital setting

  • Associate’s Degree or higher preferred

  • Current state licensure preferred when applicable

  • Proven leadership, coaching, and team development experience in a clinical setting

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to anticipate team needs, prioritize effectively, and remain calm during emergency situations

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with hospital leadership and staff

  • Commitment to maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and positive team culture

  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) required; multilingual skills a plus
