Welcome to Animal Emergency & Specialty Center (AESC)! We are a 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital offering expertise in seven specialties. As our team continues to grow, we are looking for motivated, positive, and compassionate individuals to join us.
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Business Manager to oversee daily accounting, financial operations, staff management, and ensure effective inventory, pharmacy, and compliance processes.
Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Hospital Director, the Business Manager is responsible for the management of the day-to-day accounting, finance, and business management functions of the hospital. Responsible for the management of the staff, daily operations, fiscal management and compliance of the Inventory and Pharmacy programs and departments.
Compensation:
- $70,000- $85,000
- based on experience/ skillset
People Management
- Manage hiring, training, development, performance, and terminations for inventory and pharmacy staff
- Review payroll and timesheets
- Create and maintain staff schedules; approve/deny PTO
- Oversee inventory and pharmacy operations and compliance
- Manage daily inventory work and vendor relationships
- Approve purchase orders and high-cost requests
- Conduct quarterly inventory counts and controlled substance tracking
- Manage Cubex system and controlled drug compliance with Medical Director
- Oversee procurement, cash handling, reconciliations, and invoices
- Manage accounts receivable, credit card disputes, and collections
- Administer employee discounts, pet care balances, scrub allowances, and continuing education reimbursements
- Serve as Fund Manager for Angel Fund
- Partner with Accounts Payable and Procurement to ensure proper financial flow
- Support Hospital Director with financial analysis, reporting, audits, and KPI tracking
- Administer pricing strategy, employee IT access, and internal systems
- Manage client complaints and online reputation
- Assist with employee engagement, recognition events, and other projects
- Participate in leadership meetings and culture-building activities
- Lead weekly operations meetings and provide coverage for absent leaders
- Participate in leadership on-call rotation as needed
- Uphold hospital values and contribute to policy development
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of management or supervisory experience.
- At least 1 year of work experience with cash handling, accounting, bookkeeping, or other financial responsibilities
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, healthcare management or another related field
- 5 years of management or supervisory experience in a veterinary or healthcare related field
- 3 years of financial management work experience. (Experience with DEA or other federal regulatory agencies and compliance requirements.)
