WHO ARE WE?

NVS-Clarksville is a veterinary specialty and emergency hospital established in 2020. Clarksville was recently named Tennessee’s fastest-growing city and is located approximately 45 minutes northwest of Nashville.  We are in a recently renovated 8500-square-foot hospital with digital radiography, computed tomography (CT), ultrasound, endoscopy, a full on-site laboratory, and more. In addition to emergency services, our specialty services include surgery and internal medicine.  Our primary focus is to honor the human-animal bond in all we do, focusing on patient care, client experience, and the health of our team while maintaining a healthy business. Job Summary: Assist doctors, veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants, and clients service representatives with carrying out treatments, diagnostics, and procedures as needed. This role wears multiple hats and must be available to assist in several aspects of the hospital if and when needed. This would include Specialty Departments and ER/ICU.
 

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Should default to assigned primary service based on individual department needs in down times or times of unspecific need. Will be determined by the Anesthesiologist or Hospital Manager.
  2. Should assist Specialty departments and ER/ICU staff with patient treatments, diagnostics, and procedures. This includes restraining, sedation, general anesthesia, administration of chemotherapy, assisting with radiographs, assisting with blood work, preparing for procedures/surgeries/endoscopies/diagnostic imaging (MRI/CT/ultrasounds), communicating with clients, performing discharges, seeing appointments, and any other duties they need assistance with.
  • Obtain appropriate medical information, vitals, and weight
  • Maintain medical records
  • Review estimates with clients
  • Input physical findings and/or doctor’s notes into software programs (ezyVet, SmartFlow, etc.)
  • Filling prescriptions and calling prescriptions into pharmacies
  • Facilitating patient visitations
  • General maintenance of equipment
  • Hospital stocking
  • Contribute to general cleaning, laundry, dishes, sweeping/mopping, changing trash, cleaning cages, etc.
  • Become Anesthesia trained and required to participate in Weekday/Weekend Anesthesia on-call
  • Required to participate in Weekend Specialty signup if not on Anesthesia on-call list  

Qualifications: 

  • LVMT CVT, LVT, RVT, or VTS licensure and at least 3+ years of veterinary hospital experience; Must have specialty experience in surgery and internal medicine.
  • Must have a reasonably in-depth understanding of veterinary medicine and basic disease processes
  • Must have broad technical abilities 
  • Must have exemplary customer services skills
  • Adaptable to work with different departments and people regularly
  • Possesses a calm demeanor in stressful situations and high emotional intelligence
  • Proactive in identifying the needs of each speciality department on a daily, weekly basis

The employee is often required to lift and carry animals weighing fifty pounds or more; handle dogs weighing up to 150 pounds.
