The Virginia Veterinary Centers in Short Pump, VA is hiring an experienced Radiation Therapist Technologist to join our Advanced Procedures & Radiation Therapy team!

Our Registered Veterinary Radiation Therapist (RTT) is responsible for delivering radiation therapy treatments to veterinary patients as prescribed by a board-certified veterinary radiation oncologist. This position requires expertise in the safe and accurate operation of linear accelerators, adherence to radiation safety protocols, and compassionate patient handling.

Compensation:
- $90,000/ annually and is based on experience, skill set, & certification.

Schedule:
- Monday - Friday, 5/ 8-hour shifts per week.

Your Role:

- Accurately administer prescribed radiation doses using linear accelerators (LINAC), including TrueBeam, and associated imaging equipment (CT, MRI).
- Execute individualized daily radiation treatments and verify all setup parameters using immobilization devices and image-guided techniques.
- Maintain detailed and accurate treatment records; document deviations or concerns promptly.
- Provide basic client education on diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy, as directed by a veterinarian.
- Participate in treatment planning meetings and case rounds with the radiation oncologist and oncology team.

Safely handle, restrain, and position patients before, during, and after treatment, minimizing stress and adhering to Fear-Free practices in collaboration with LVTs and DVMs.
Monitor patient condition during treatment and promptly communicate concerns to the radiation oncologist.
Coordinate with anesthesia and nursing teams to ensure proper induction, transport, and recovery protocols are followed.
- Accurately document patient information and treatment details in the medical record.
- Maintain a clean, dry, and comfortable environment for patients throughout their care.
- Work collaboratively with radiation oncologists, anesthesiologists, oncology nurses, and veterinary technicians to ensure cohesive patient care.
- Support anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery when necessary. 
- Ensure proper patient hand- offs, check- ins/ check- outs, and communication across departments. 


What We’re Looking For:

  • ARRT Certification required (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
  • Must pass the ARRT certification exam.
  • Maintain active certification by completing 24 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years; at least 12 must be Category A ARRT-approved credits.

Education Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy or a related field. 
  • Graduate from a radiologic technology program accredited by an organization reorganized by VTBOM.
