Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week, with rotating days, swing, weekends, and holidays

Veterinary Technician Manager Responsibilities:

As the Veterinary Technician Manager for our Emergency and ICU departments, you will provide both clinical and operational leadership within a fast-paced specialty and emergency environment.

This role combines hands-on emergency nursing with team leadership and department management.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and support Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants in the ER and ICU
  • Partner closely with the Medical Director, Hospital Director, and Emergency DVM leadership team
  • Mentor and develop Veterinary Technicians in emergency and critical care skills
  • Support staffing, workflow, scheduling, and daily department operations
  • Maintain high standards of patient care and client service
  • Assist DVMs with emergency procedures, diagnostics, and treatments
  • Support anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
  • Assist with triage and emergency case management
  • Perform and oversee laboratory procedures, imaging, phlebotomy, and medication administration
  • Help improve protocols, training initiatives, and departmental efficiency
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and supportive team culture
  • Support technician growth, engagement, and retention

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician required (LVT/CVT/RVT)
  • Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) strongly preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience in emergency or critical care
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership, supervisory, or management experience
  • Strong technical emergency nursing skills
  • Experience with:
    • Triage and emergency case management
    • Anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
    • Diagnostic imaging
    • Laboratory procedures
    • Phlebotomy and venipuncture
    • Drug calculations and medication administration
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to lead in a fast-paced emergency veterinary environment
