Registered Veterinary Technician, Critical Care

Location: Fort Wayne, IN
Schedule: Full Time | 2nd Shift | Rotating Schedule of 4 10-hour shifts and 3 12-hour shifts | Includes Every Other Weekend | Some Holidays Required
Compensation: $21-26/hr, Dependent On Experience | Higher Wages Available for VTS-Credentialed Technicians | Weekend Shift Differential $1.50/hr

In Your Day-To-Day, You Will:
- Work closely with veterinarians to deliver exceptional care to ICU patients with complex and specialized medical needs.
- Safely restrain patients during examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures, always keeping patient comfort and safety a priority.
- Provide advanced nursing care for hospitalized and critically ill patients, closely monitoring their condition and responding to any changes.
- Draw blood, collect diagnostic samples, and support laboratory testing as needed.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately in accordance with hospital protocols and veterinarian instructions.
- Assist with advanced CPR efforts and remain prepared to respond to medical emergencies.
- Communicate professionally with clients by providing patient updates, discharge instructions, and education to help support continued care at home.
- Work collaboratively with veterinarians and the hospital team to provide compassionate, high-quality care within a fast-paced specialty environment.
What You Bring:
- Veterinary Technician License (LVT, CVT, or RVT) is required
- Foundational veterinary knowledge, including patient restraint, triage, imaging, laboratory skills, and venipuncture.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to stay calm and organized under pressure.
- Provide excellent customer service and interact with clients in a manner that supports NIVES mission to provide the highest quality veterinary specialty and emergency medicine for small animals.
- Work with fellow team members to maintain a productive, positive and respectful environment. All technical staff, regardless of the level of experience, must be able to stand, bend, lift, and/or kneel for the duration of a shift (12 hours), and lift a minimum of twenty five pounds.
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
