We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Technician who is eager to expand their skill set and receive training to perform MRI scans. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with a strong foundation in veterinary medicine who is looking to specialize in diagnostic imaging.
Responsibilities:
- Perform MRI scans while ensuring proper technical factors are applied.
- Assist in patient positioning to capture high-quality diagnostic images.
- Work independently or under clinician guidance to adjust scanning techniques for optimal imaging results.
- Identify and troubleshoot image quality issues during MRI procedures.
- Conduct routine MRI quality assurance checks and report any concerns promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe MRI suite, adhering to restricted access protocols.
- Collaborate with the Facilities Manager and service vendors to troubleshoot and resolve scanner/equipment issues as needed.
- Support the veterinary team in additional hospital tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in veterinary medicine, with a strong understanding of patient care and handling.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working as an MRI Technologist in human or veterinary medicine.
- CA RVT license
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong multitasking abilities and the ability to anticipate the needs of veterinarians and fellow technicians.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and hospital leadership.
- Clear and effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess issues, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent bending, lifting, and restraining of animals over 50 pounds.
- Prolonged standing, walking, sitting, and manual dexterity for handling imaging equipment.
- Ability to reach, stretch, and perform repetitive movements as needed.
- Vision requirements include both close-up and distance clarity.
Work Environment:
- Predominantly indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure when walking patients.
- Moderate noise levels, with occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, airborne particles, and veterinary-related chemicals.
- Regular interaction with all hospital departments and personnel.
- Highly competitive and comparable wages based on experience and skill set.
- Compensation range: $30-$40/hr
- Competitive Vet Assistant and RVT CE allowance annually
- License application and renewal reimbursement for RVT’s
- Financial support and onsite mentorship toward pursuit of VTS
