Licensed Veterinary Technician Surgery - Fredericksburg, VA - Full Time
The Virginia Veterinary Center in Fredericksburg, VA is hiring a full- time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our outstanding Surgery team! We offer a generous sign on bonus ranging from $5,000 - $10,000 dependent on experience!
Our Surgery LVT will start their career with VVC by being set up for success. We offer extensive training in our Emergency department for the first few weeks/ months before training with our incredible Surgery team at our Richmond location.

Anticipated Schedule:
4/10 hour shifts per week.
7am - 5pm (Monday - Thursday).
On- call schedule as needed.
Compensation:
Competitive compensation which is based on experience & skill level.
$30-35/ hr.

Essential Job Functions:
Collecting diagnostic samples, imaging, and non-laboratory diagnostics (BP, EKG, SPO2) for analysis while understanding normal parameter markers to help facilitate in next steps of diagnostic preparation and communication to Veterinarians.
Facilitate proper procedure for collecting and submitting diagnostic samples to outside laboratories.
Assist Veterinarians in all aspects during surgical procedures from developing anesthetic protocol, administration of pre- medications and induction agents, intubation, surgical prep, maintenance and monitoring of general anesthesia, assist in surgical procedure as needed, recovery care of patients post anesthetic episodes, proper medical documentation of anesthesia monitoring, and understanding side effects of anesthetic agents being administered.
Calculate, create, and administer constant rate infusions such as Dopamine CRIs, Fentanyl CRIs, Lidocaine CRIs, and more.
Practicing patient and empathetic client service skills when communicating with clients at all stages of their visit, such as when triaging, discharging, or providing medical updates on hospitalized patients.
Properly discharge patients by filling all required medications, ensuring patients are clean and comfortable, removing intravenous catheters, approving final invoices, and reviewing discharges with pet owners.
About You:
Credentialed veterinary technician with strong technical skills (to include placing IV catheters, venipuncture, administering premedication, anesthesia induction & monitoring, patient preparation, surgical nursing, and perioperative nursing care, radiographs, etc.)
