Bulger Veterinary Hospital is seeking a full-time Operating Room Attendant to join our dedicated and compassionate team in Lawrence, MA. This is a great opportunity for an entry-level candidate or someone looking to grow a career in veterinary healthcare and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced clinical environment.
In this role, you will support surgical operations by maintaining a clean, organized, and sterile environment. The OR Attendant is responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments, equipment, and operating rooms. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring patient safety, supporting surgical efficiency, and helping the team deliver high-quality care.
Schedule:
- Four shifts per week up to 40 hours
- One weekend day required
Compensation:- $21–$26/hour, based on skills assessment and experience

About the RoleThe Central Sterile/Pack Room is the hub of all cleaning and sterilization efforts that support our surgical services and patient care teams. OR Attendants play a critical role in ensuring a safe and sterile environment for every procedure performed in our specialty hospital.This position involves collaborating with team members from various departments and is ideal for individuals who enjoy structured tasks, attention to detail, and being an integral part of a fast-paced clinical setting.Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with veterinary and surgical teams to ensure seamless availability of sterile instruments and supplies for all procedures
- Expertly clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments, ensuring the highest standards of safety and precision
- Prepare and maintain operating rooms to create a sterile, efficient, and procedure-ready environment
- Turn over (flip) operating rooms between patients in a timely and efficient manner to support surgical schedules
- Operate advanced sterilization equipment, including steam and plasma systems, with accuracy and care
- Proactively perform equipment checks and maintenance to support uninterrupted surgical operations
- Manage and track inventory of sterile supplies, ensuring proper stock levels and compliance with expiration standards
- Conduct routine testing and quality assurance of sterilization equipment, maintaining strict adherence to regulatory protocols
- Process and disinfect surgical linens to support infection control and patient safety
- Uphold exceptional cleanliness standards through detailed sanitation of operating rooms, pack areas, and surgical equipment
- Support the veterinary team with additional tasks, contributing to a smooth, efficient, and compassionate care environment
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1+ years of related work experience preferred
- Previous experience in a veterinary or surgical setting is a plus, but not required
- Strong desire to learn and grow in a clinical environment
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn our hospital information system
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs without accommodation
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role
