Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital of West Toronto is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician (RVT/LVT/CVT) to join our Emergency Department in Mississauga, Ontario. Whether you're already working in emergency medicine or you're a strong GP technician ready to transition into ER, you'll have the opportunity to build advanced technical skills, work with a wide variety of emergency cases, and practice at the top of your license in a collaborative 24/7 emergency and referral hospital.
Compensation
$28–$35/hour based on experience and skillset
$2/hour overnight differential (8:00 PM–7:00 AM)
$3,000 sign-on bonus
Schedule
Three 12-hour shifts per week
Rotating days and overnights
Every other weekend required

Responsibilities As a Veterinary Technician in our Emergency Department, you'll work closely with DVMs and fellow RVTs to provide exceptional patient care for urgent, emergent, and critical cases.
Triage and emergency patient assessment
Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
Monitoring hospitalized patients and delivering nursing care
Patient vitals and ongoing treatment monitoring
Anesthesia support, surgical preparation, and recovery
Diagnostic imaging, including radiographs
ECG monitoring
Laboratory sample collection and processing
Client communication and education
Assisting with emergency procedures and treatments
Advanced technical skills may include:
Central line placement assistance
Urinary catheter placement
NG tubes and nasal cannulas
Chest tubes
Feeding tubes
Blood transfusions
Advanced CPR (RECOVER training provided)

Qualifications
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required; CVT/LVT equivalents considered
Emergency or critical care experience preferred, but strong GP Veterinary Technicians looking to transition into ER are encouraged to apply
Strong anesthesia and patient care skills
Ability to prioritize and work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency environment
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Passion for emergency medicine and continued learning
Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
