South Asheville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (SAVES) is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician Assistant Supervisor & Training Coordinator to support our Specialty team in Asheville, NC. This leadership role is ideal for an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician who enjoys mentorship, training, and helping Veterinary Technicians grow their clinical skills in a fast-paced specialty animal hospital environment.

The Veterinary Technician Assistant Supervisor & Training Coordinator will support our Specialty services operations while serving as a key resource for onboarding, hands-on training, coaching, and ongoing development of Veterinary Technicians and veterinary support team members.

Pay & Benefits

Schedule

  • Flexible schedule based on department needs and trainee schedules

Responsibilities

Training & Development

  • Coordinate and support onboarding programs for new Specialty Services Technicians and veterinary team members.
  • Develop, organize, and deliver hands-on training to support Veterinary Technician skill advancement and clinical competency.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for Veterinary Technicians as they progress through training and development plans.
  • Partner with hospital leadership to identify learning opportunities and create individualized development plans.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to promote professional growth and confidence.
  • Assist with competency assessments, skill evaluations, and documentation of training progress.
  • Ensure team members are trained on hospital protocols, workflows, equipment, and patient care standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, teamwork, and clinical excellence.

Leadership & Department Support

  • Assist hospital leadership with daily department operations, workflow, and team support.
  • Provide guidance and support to Veterinary Technicians specialty services cases.
  • Help coordinate staffing needs, assignments, and workflow to support efficient patient care.
  • Serve as a leadership resource by encouraging communication, accountability, and collaboration.
  • Support implementation of medical protocols, workflow improvements, and departmental initiatives.
  • Assist with team meetings and cross-department collaboration.
  • Maintain high standards of patient care, safety, and veterinary nursing excellence.

Qualifications

  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT, CVT, or LVT) required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in emergency, specialty, or critical care veterinary medicine preferred
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, training, or lead Veterinary Technician experience preferred
  • Strong interest and demonstrated ability in coaching and developing veterinary team members
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt schedule based on training needs and department priorities
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced Specialty Services environment
  • Positive, collaborative, and solution-oriented approach
  • Experience with EzyVet and SmartFlow preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred
  • Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) credential preferred
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are a plus
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
