Job Description
The Clinical Learning & Development (L&D) Coordinator is responsible for fostering a culture of continuous growth and clinical excellence among veterinary nurses and assistants. This role bridges clinical operations and team development by coordinating, delivering, and evaluating high-impact learning opportunities tailored to hospital needs. The Clinical L&D Coordinator will work in close collaboration with Clinical Nursing Managers and national education teams to implement Ethos training initiatives and elevate clinical capabilities across the hospital.

Responsibilities

Training & Development Strategy
  • Partner with the Clinical Nursing Managers to assess team training needs and build a targeted development strategy.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of skill proficiency and knowledge through hands-on observations and competency assessments aligned with Ethos' ASCEND framework.
  • Support and manage the local implementation of clinical training programs (e.g., onboarding pathways, specialty skills development, CE labs).
On-the-Floor Mentorship & Education
  • Spend time on the floor providing direct mentorship, real-time coaching, and 1:1 clinical training for veterinary nurses and assistants.
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer training opportunities and build a team of clinical assessors to support broader skill development and leveling initiatives.
  • Lead or coordinate in-hospital educational events such as case rounds, clinical labs, and workshops, adapting content to local hospital needs.
Program Development & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Ethos Clinical L&D teams to contribute to curriculum development and provide feedback on training content.
  • Support rollout and continuous improvement of clinical development programs such as the Utilization Assessment, AVA training, and advanced nursing skills workshops.
  • Engage in regular self-evaluation, soliciting feedback and refining L&D practices to drive better outcomes for patients, clients, and the nursing team.
Administrative Leadership
  • Organize training calendars, documenting progress, maintaining training records, and contributing to performance development plans.
  • Track learning outcomes and assist hospital leadership in aligning clinical development with operational goals (e.g., labor optimization, specialty growth).
  • Serve as a liaison for new graduate veterinarians and facilitate collaborative learning between nursing and doctor teams, as needed.
Qualifications
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with at least 4 years of in clinic experience
  • VTS certification (ECC, Internal Medicine, Anesthesia & Analgesia) highly desirable but not required.
  • Excellent communication and feedback skills, with the ability to guide learning across a wide range of experience levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in training, onboarding, or educational roles within veterinary practice preferred.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams, manage multiple projects, and maintain a flexible approach to meet evolving needs.
  • Positive, supportive leadership style with a focus on celebrating successes and modeling a culture of learning.
  • Availability to work varied shifts to support team members across all schedules; occasional local travel to nearby Ethos hospitals may be required.
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
