Looking to pick up additional veterinary shifts while keeping flexibility in your schedule?

Veterinary Emergency + Referral Center of Hawaii (VERC) is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to support our 24/7 Emergency & Specialty hospital on a per diem basis.

Credentialing is preferred but not required. Experienced Veterinary Assistants with strong hands-on clinical skills are encouraged to apply.

What You Bring

  • Two or more years of Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant experience in a progressive general practice, or at least one year in Emergency or Specialty medicine.
  • Veterinary Technician credentialing preferred but not required.
  • Strong hands-on skills including patient restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration, and patient monitoring.
  • Confidence with medication calculations, fluid rates, and CRIs.
  • Anesthesia and sedation monitoring experience.
  • Emergency, ICU, Critical Care, Specialty, or high-volume veterinary experience preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and adaptable in a fast-paced hospital environment.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will

  • Triage and provide nursing care for emergency and hospitalized patients.
  • Assist veterinarians with patient assessments, stabilization, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, sample collection, and in-house diagnostics.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and CRIs as directed.
  • Assist with diagnostic imaging and emergency procedures.
  • Prepare, monitor, and recover patients undergoing sedation and anesthesia.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in patient condition.
  • Collaborate with Emergency veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and Specialty teams.

Pay & Per Diem Schedule

  • $20.00–$32.00/hour based on experience and skill set
