The Animal Medical Center of Seattle, WA is hiring a full- time Veterinary Assistant to join our radiology team!
About the Role:
The Radiology Assistant supports the Radiologists and hospital by facilitating efficient patient flow for animals receiving diagnostic imaging, prepares and transports patients for imaging procedures, and restrains animals during procedures. They will also effectively communicate with Technicians, DVMs, and Clients regarding timelines and scheduling of imaging procedures for patients.
Compensation:
- Compensation is based on experience and skill level. $23 - $28/hr.
Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training
Anticipated Schedule:
- Full-Time: Monday-Thursday, 8:00a-6:00p (subject to change)
Key Areas of Responsibility
Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Handles and restrains animals during procedures
- Assists credentialed technicians with the induction of anesthesia/sedation
- Prepares, shaves, and transports patients for imaging procedures
- Positions animals appropriately for diagnostic imaging
- Supports the radiologist in performing imaging modalities.
- Sets up for and assists during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Performs in-house diagnostics such as bloodwork.
- Assists in the placement of IV catheters.
- Completes various documentation, record keeping, and tasks in various imaging, PIMS, and whiteboard systems.
- Assists in scheduling of diagnostic imaging.
- Communicates with departments on the status and timing of their patient receiving imaging.
General Responsibilities:
- Stocking and cleaning of common areas
- Clean and care for hospital equipment
- Communicate with referring rDVMs to obtain previously performed diagnostics & treatments.
- Assists other departments as needed and during downtime.
- Other duties as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or GED.
- Has at least two years of veterinary experience (neurology or other specialty experience preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience as a veterinary assistant with job responsibilities that required animal restraint and taking radiographs
- Experience in an emergency/specialty setting
