Surgery Veterinary Technician or Asst - Alpharetta, GA - Full Time

Alpharetta Veterinary Specialty + Emergency in Alpharetta is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant or Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our outstanding Surgery team!

Available Sign-On Bonus Structures up to $1500 for LVTs and $750 for Experienced Assistant Candidates!

Compensation: $22 - $28 per hour, based on experience and certifications.

Schedule Requirements: Full-time, Monday - Thursday, 7am - 5pm. Occasional extended hours as needed, based on case load.

About You:

Experience in anesthesia is highly desired for this role—but not required. We’re happy to support learning and development for the right candidate!

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist with surgical procedures and patient preparation
  • Provide compassionate nursing care and patient monitoring
  • Take vital signs, collect samples, and assist with diagnostics
  • Administer medications and maintain accurate medical records
  • Perform proper animal restraint and handling
  • Assist with catheter placement, phlebotomy, and radiology
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant hospital environment
  • Support the surgical team with efficiency and attention to detail

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1+ year of experience in a veterinary setting (preferred)
  • Active veterinary technician license required for LVTs, with proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, drug calculations, and surgical support preferred and strong technical skills including catheter placement, phlebotomy, and radiology
  • Working knowledge of patient care, restraint, and basic procedures, with a willingness to learn and grow in a surgical environment
  • Ability to work around anesthetic gases, chemicals, and zoonotic diseases. Comfortable working with animals, including those who are sick or stressed. Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. 
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus.
  • Flexibility to support occasional schedule adjustments
