Emergency Services Liaison | $18 - $27 per hour

Location: Nashville, TN

Schedule: Full-Time | Four 10-hour day shifts

Compensation: $18 - $27 per hour + $4.50 shift differential for shifts after 6 PM or weekends

The Emergency Services Liaison supports the ER, ICU, and Critical Care teams at Nashville Veterinary Specialists in Nashville, TN. This role combines veterinary client communication, patient coordination, workflow support, and administrative responsibilities to help create an efficient experience for both clients and the medical team. The Emergency Services Liaison works closely with Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, ER/ECC doctors, and Client Service Representatives in a fast-paced specialty and emergency hospital.

Schedule

  • Full-time schedule consisting of four 10-hour day shifts.

  • Flexibility with your work schedule based on the operational needs of the emergency and specialty hospital is required.

  • Some weekends and holidays may be required based on hospital needs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for ER and Critical Care clients throughout the patient's visit, supporting communication from presentation through discharge, hospitalization, and follow-up.

  • Assist with obtaining patient histories for incoming ER cases, prioritizing stat and high-acuity patients, and support client communication regarding patient updates, treatment discussions, financial information, and follow-up recommendations.

  • Coordinate ER and Critical Care admissions, discharges, transfers, hospitalized patient visits, and ongoing client communication in collaboration with the medical team.

  • Facilitate communication between ER/ECC doctors, Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and Client Service Representatives to support efficient patient flow.

  • Obtain outside medical records, laboratory results, and diagnostic information; facilitate transfer calls, specialty consultations, internal referrals, and follow-up scheduling as needed.

  • Assist doctors and Veterinary Technicians with medical record organization and completion, maintaining accurate documentation in EzyVet and SmartFlow.

  • Perform basic technical and patient care duties as needed, including submitting radiographs, running in-house laboratory testing, processing outside laboratory samples, preparing medications, and removing medical equipment for discharge.

  • Prioritize workflow based on patient acuity and hospital needs while assisting the ER and Critical Care team during periods of high patient volume.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience in veterinary medicine with a strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology, medical records, and emergency or critical care workflow.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with clients, doctors, Veterinary Technicians, Veterinary Assistants, and support staff.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, anticipate workflow needs, and remain effective in a fast-paced emergency veterinary hospital.

  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems; EzyVet and SmartFlow experience preferred.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand, walk, and bend for extended periods, and work around animal waste, cleaning chemicals, and the hospital environment.

Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
