Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital in Woburn, MA is hiring an Assistant Hospital Services Manager to support our Inpatient Services team. This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced veterinary professional looking to support hospital operations, team development, workflow efficiency, and advanced patient care in a specialty animal hospital.

As the Assistant Hospital Services Manager for Inpatient Services, you’ll provide operational and clinical oversight of ICU and inpatient teams while partnering closely with doctors, technicians, supervisors, and hospital leadership to create a collaborative environment focused on exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
As the Assistant Hospital Services Manager for Inpatient Services, you’ll support daily operations, patient care standards, and team success across ICU and inpatient departments.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide operational and clinical oversight of Inpatient Services, including ICU and inpatient ward workflows
  • Collaborate with doctors, technicians, and clinical supervisors to support advanced patient care delivery and continuity of care
  • Monitor inpatient census, patient acuity, and staffing needs to ensure appropriate coverage and efficient resource allocation
  • Perform real-time workflow assessments, quality control checks, staffing adjustments, and operational support
  • Support centralized patient care operations while managing labor within budget expectations
  • Coordinate patient management between Emergency, Critical Care, Surgery, Anesthesia, and specialty teams
  • Assist with developing and maintaining standardized inpatient workflows, treatment coordination processes, and operational protocols
  • Evaluate departmental resources, including staffing, equipment, and operational tools, while recommending improvements as needed
  • Ensure inpatient treatment and hospitalization areas remain clean, organized, safe, functional, and OSHA compliant
  • Support hospital standards related to infection prevention, patient safety, controlled substances, and equipment maintenance
  • Identify opportunities to improve patient flow, workflow consistency, operational efficiency, and quality of care
  • Support onboarding, training, mentoring, and development of inpatient technicians and support staff
  • Promote a collaborative team environment focused on communication, accountability, and exceptional patient care
  • Participate in recruitment, interviewing, scheduling, performance management, and team development processes
  • Assist with departmental meetings, operational planning, and process improvement initiatives
  • Facilitate communication between hospital departments to support seamless patient transitions
  • Resolve payroll matters, report Workers’ Compensation claims, and complete administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of veterinary industry experience required
  • Emergency, specialty, critical care, or inpatient veterinary operations experience preferred
  • 1+ years of supervisory or leadership experience required
  • Experience supporting hospital operations, staffing, workflow coordination, and team development
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of advanced inpatient care operations and centralized patient care models preferred
  • Ability to support teams in a fast-paced emergency and specialty animal hospital environment
  • Collaborative leadership style with a focus on team engagement and patient care excellence
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
