
Overnight Outpatient Veterinary Technician

About the role:
Outpatient Technicians work as the link between clients, client services, and doctors. They must be able to react in any situation in a professional and efficient manner. Additionally, they will work directly with the Emergency doctors with incoming patients.
Compensation:
- Starting at $22 - $26 hourly, based on experience and skillset
- +$$ 3/hr. night differentials
- +$$ 4/hr. weekend differentials
Anticipated Schedule:
- Full Time
- 3x12 hour shifts
- 6pm – 6am
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Follow all protocols, policies, and procedures of Powers Pet Emergency & Specialty
- Assist in all daily duties for clinic care.
- While seeing rooms, record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.
- Assist with hospital cleaning duties when necessary.
- Maintain excellent client communication.
- Assisting client service team members with patient check-in and out when necessary.
- Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.
- Answer the phones promptly and in a courteous and informative way.
- Perform venipunctures and IVC placement
- Administer medications under the direction of a doctor (PO, SQ, IM, IV)
- Provide patient care under the direction of a doctor.
- Obtaining accurate patient vitals and presenting cases to the doctors.
- Follow all OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
- Other duties assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- Veterinary Technician experience required; emergency and/or specialty experience preferred
- Strong skills in laboratory work, pharmacy, radiology, and patient nursing care
- Ability to prioritize multiple cases and remain calm in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and client education skills
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach to veterinary medicine
- Basic computer, math, and English communication skills required
- Availability to work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
