Licensed Veterinary Technician - Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine (CBEAM) – Bothell, WA

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Summary:
The Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine (CBEAM) is looking for a motivated Veterinary Technician to add to our growing team of nineteen veterinarians and about forty support staff! We are a 24/7 emergency and primary care veterinary hospital for exotics–we provide compassionate and expert care for all species of non-traditional pets located near Seattle, WA. This requires specialized treatments, diagnostic protocols, state-of-the-art equipment, and facilities designed for these species. Our doctors' advanced training in exotic animal medicine make them uniquely qualified to offer wellness, emergency, and critical care for avian and exotic pets. Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document patient histories accurately
  • Collect and process laboratory samples, including hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology, to support diagnostics and treatment
  • Administer medications, vaccines, fluids, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians
  • Monitor and administer anesthesia under veterinary supervision
  • Provide specialized nursing care for injured or critically ill animals
  • Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Ensure monitoring and support equipment (anesthetic machines, cardiac monitors, scopes, breathing apparatus) is properly maintained and in working order
  • Assist in diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures using advanced imaging and diagnostic equipment (electrocardiographic, radiographic, ultrasonographic)
  • Capture and process radiographs
  • Educate and communicate with pet owners regarding treatment plans and post-care instructions
  • Support client intake, check-out, and financial transactions as needed
  • Provide guidance on preventative healthcare, including vaccinations, medications, and wellness plans
  • Educate clients on available products, including prescription diets and supplements
  • Assist with inventory management of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and supplies
  • Maintain and sterilize instruments, equipment, and treatment areas to uphold hospital standards
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, including OSHA and DEA guidelines
  • Communicate regulatory concerns to the Veterinary Hospital Manager or Hospital Administrator as needed
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that supports hospital values and patient care
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
  • Active WA State Veterinary Technician License
  • Ability to commute reliably to the hospital location
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and navigate stairs
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • High school diploma or GED
Preferred:
  • 1+ year of experience as a Veterinary Technician
  • Previous experience in an exotic veterinary clinic
  • Familiarity with AVImark practice management software
Schedule:
  • 3x12-hour shifts/week or 3x13-hour shifts
  • Full-time Overnight
  • Open availability preferred (one weekend day required)
Compensation:
  • $28-33/hour DOE

    • $1,000 annual Continuing Education (CE) budget
    • 40 paid CE hours to fulfill licensing requirements
    • Mentorship from our Lead LVT, a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS), for those pursuing their VTS

    • Support for professional growth through the Penn Foster program, with partial tuition sponsorship (employment agreement required)
