Overland Park Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is looking for a Shift Supervisor!
The Shift Supervisor will have a key role in providing the best patient care and client satisfaction for Mission or Overland Park locations. As part of the leadership team, you will have direct responsibility for portions of our amazing team which will help shape our future. The Shift Supervisor will be working with doctors and staff to provide a high level of care and treatment for patients through servant leadership practices. The Shift Supervisor directs and manages the hospital team in support of the hospital’s vision, mission, goals, and policies. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for working with other Supervisors and the Hospital Manager to deliver positive results across client and patient care, staffing, learning and growth, internal business processes, and financials.
Duties & Responsibilities (included but not limited to): ● Demonstrate solid veterinary skills and be a role model for the team.
● Accomplishes department objectives by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes.
● Accomplishes staff job results by enabling employees through coaching, counseling and hands-on assistance. ● Ensures inventory and equipment are at optimal levels and reports any systemic issues that may need additional attention.
● Assists Safety Focal in upholding safety standards and regular safety communication.
● Performs 90 day reviews and provides corrective action when needed
Implements and enforces systems, policies, and procedures.
● Lead Team Huddles/Meetings to ensure appropriate information is being communicated throughout the hospital.
● Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.
● Assist with creating schedules and ensure adequate coverage while providing input on annual staff reviews.
● Coordinates with other Shift Supervisors, Hospital Manager and/or Human Resources to respond to employee concerns or complaints.
Patient Management · Directly oversee the Shift Leads for patient admitting, hospitalization, and discharging.
●Assist Shift Leads/Charge Nurses in administration, delegation, and completion of veterinarian’s medical orders.
● Assist the Training & Development Manager in mentoring hospital staff in nursing care, radiology, anesthesia, surgery, laboratory and pharmacy ensuring that staff is trained and following standards of quality medical care.
Client Management● Assist the Training & Development Manager in overseeing training of hospital staff in accordance to the principals of care and communication.
● Assist Shift Leads in consistently providing outstanding client services within the hospital environment.
● Directly oversee Shift Leads and Patient Service Representative with work flow to ensure that clients and patients are seen and treated in a professional, timely and competent manner.
Records Management● Assist the Hospital Leader in ensuring that patient invoices are kept up to date.
● Assist the Training & Development Manager with medical record audits.

3. Solid working knowledge of veterinary hospital practice, including terminology.
4. Ability to think logically, problem-solve effectively and anticipate needs of clients, doctors and co-workers.

7. Strong ability to multi-task, exhibit attention to detail and focus on tasks.
8. Solid working knowledge of dog and cat breeds, normal behavior, and basic husbandry.
9. Ability and commitment to continually improve leadership potential and help coach others to do the same.
10. Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills
Physical 1. Able to stand, sit or bend for extended periods of time
2. Able to type, write and verbally converse for extended periods of time
3. Able to lift and/or carry up to 30 lbs
