Neurology Veterinary Technician (LVT) – Operating Room At Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCVS), we don’t just practice veterinary medicine, we push it forward. We’re looking for a Neurology Veterinary Technician (LVT) who thrives in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and is passionate about anesthesia, advanced procedures, and delivering exceptional patient care from induction through recovery.
**WE ARE OFFERING A SIGN ON BONUS FOR THIS ROLE**
Compensation:
- Starting at $22/hr. based on experience and skills
- ++$$ SIGN ON BONUS OFFERED
- Additional earning potential through weekend and holiday on-call shifts, including stipends and premium pay
Schedule:
- Full Time
- 4 days/week, 10-hour shifts
- On-call rotation: every 3rd weekend
- Minimum of 2 holidays/year
Why This Role Matters
In this role, you’ll be a critical part of the neurology team, supporting advanced imaging (MRI/CT), assisting in complex neurosurgeries, and ensuring the safety of patients under anesthesia. Your technical expertise and attention to detail directly impact patient outcomes and the success of every procedure.
What You’ll Do
This is a hands-on, highly technical role where no two days look the same.
Key responsibilities include:
Anesthesia & Procedural Support
- Induce, monitor, and recover patients for MRI, CT, and surgical procedures
- Maintain anesthesia equipment and monitoring devices
- Perform advanced monitoring, including ECG interpretation and ventilator use
Surgical & Imaging Preparation
- Prepare patients for procedures (IV catheter placement, labs, imaging prep, etc.)
- Assist in the OR: circulating, scrubbing in, and supporting surgeons as needed
- Set up surgical packs, instrumentation, and anesthesia stations
Advanced Technical Skills
- Chemotherapy – preparation and administration
- Arterial catheter placement and blood pressure monitoring
- CRI preparation/administration
- EMG and BAER test setup
- CSF tap setup and assistance
- Drug calculations and critical care support
Patient Care & Recovery
- Provide attentive peri-operative and post-operative care
- Create and manage treatment sheets (SmartFlow)
- Ensure patients are stable, comfortable, and ready for discharge
Team & Hospital Support
- Maintain a clean, organized OR environment
- Collaborate across departments to support hospital-wide care
- Follow MRI, radiation, chemotherapy, and sterile protocols
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is both technically strong and team-oriented, with a genuine passion for specialty medicine.
Required:
- Licensed Veterinary Technician, valid in the state of Texas
Preferred:
- Minimum 2 years of veterinary experience
- Prior anesthesia and/or surgical experience
- Experience in specialty or emergency medicine
