Hospital Manager - Wilmington, NC - Full Time

Eastern Carolina Veterinary Medical Center (ECVMC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Hospital Operations Manager to join our leadership team. This high-impact role partners closely with the Hospital Administrator and Managing DVM to ensure hospital operations run efficiently, teams are supported, and exceptional patient care and client service are delivered across our growing specialty and emergency hospital.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday (with some weekends as needed)
Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

About the Role:

As the Hospital Operations Manager, you’ll serve as a key operational leader and strategic partner within the hospital management team. You’ll collaborate closely with the Hospital Administrator and Managing DVM to ensure daily operations, staffing, financial processes, and hospital programs run smoothly and efficiently. In the absence of the Hospital Administrator, you’ll act in a senior leadership capacity and decision-maker for hospital operations.

This role supports hospital growth, operational excellence, employee engagement, and regulatory compliance across all departments, directly contributing to both patient care delivery and business performance.

Key Responsibilities:

     Hospital Operations & Strategy

  • Support daily hospital operations and workflow efficiency

  • Partner with hospital leaders to plan staffing and schedules aligned with caseload and budget

  • Drive operational improvements, growth initiatives, and revenue optimization with leadership

  • Resolve cross-departmental challenges to ensure consistent patient care and client experience

  • Serve as OSHA/Safety Officer and maintain the hospital safety program

  • Act as an operational resource across all hospital areas

     Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Oversee DVM production tracking and reporting

  • Support payroll, benefits communication, and financial processes

  • Participate in revenue, expense, and budget oversight

  • Assist with accounts payable/receivable and vendor coordination

  • Submit expenses and required corporate documentation

     Technology & Equipment Support

  • Maintain proficiency with hospital systems (ezyVet preferred)

  • Support technology, equipment, and vendor relationships

  • Assist with troubleshooting, upgrades, and implementations

  • Communicate system or equipment updates to teams

     People & Culture Leadership

  • Partner with leadership and HR on recruiting and hiring (including DVMs)

  • Coach and support leaders in employee relations and performance management

  • Assist with onboarding, training validation, and development planning

  • Participate in performance reviews and recognition programs

  • Promote positive culture and teamwork

  • Track DVM and staff licensure/credentials

Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership and hospital operations or practice management experience

  • Strong knowledge of staffing, HR processes, payroll, and financial operations

  • Solid accounting fundamentals including accounts payable and receivable

  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment

  • Effective interpersonal, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hospital/practice management software (ezyVet preferred)

  • Ability to delegate effectively and achieve results through teams

  • Demonstrated ability to drive change, improvement initiatives, and operational efficiency

  • Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and high standards of client and patient care
