Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center (WVRC) is a 24/7 Emergency and Specialty Animal Hospital, dedicated to providing patients, clients, and referring veterinarians with the highest quality emergency and specialty veterinary medical care. WVRC offers a warm, friendly atmosphere where our main goal is to provide compassionate care to our patients and clients as well as offering outstanding customer service.
We are looking for a full-time Surgery Technician for our Surgery Department at our new hospital in Waukesha, WI.
In this entry level position, you will work as part of the Surgery Department to ensure exceptional patient care and provide overall support and assistance to all other WVRC departments. The person in this department is a direct conduit for all WVRC surgery needs.

Starting at $24/hr and up based on experience and skill level
Schedule:
4 x 10-hour shifts per week
Working 4 holidays in the year
Key Responsibilities:
Proficient in obtaining patient medical history and vitals.
Proficient in admitting and discharging patients within the entire Surgery service.
Demonstrate exceptional client communication and education as well as assistance with scheduling appointments, procedures, and advanced imaging.
Knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, patient restraint, and terminology.
Proficient in using Smartflow and EzyVet systems.
Demonstrate competency in calculating medication and drug doses.
Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and assistants to ensure optimal patient care and procedural outcomes.
Maintain sterility and aseptic techniques when situation warrants in all surgical environments.
Stock and maintain surgical supplies and instruments.
Assist with training and mentoring of junior staff or students as needed.
Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Required:
A strong passion for high-quality animal care
Fluent English skills (spoken and written); fluency in multiple languages is a plus!
Must be able to lift patients or equipment up to 50lbs
Excellent observational and documentation skills.
Ability to remain calm and focused during emergency situations.
Compassionate, patient-focused, and team-oriented mindset.
Able to multi-task and work independently with little or no supervision.
Strong communication and organizational skills are important.
Preferred:
At least 1 year of experience within a specialty veterinary hospital
