We are seeking a dedicated Surgery Assistant to join our expanding team. This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience, contribute to a positive work environment, and make a meaningful impact every day.
Position Overview:
As a Surgery Assistant, you will play a crucial role in our surgery team, ensuring exceptional patient care by maintaining a clean, organized operating room and central supply area. Your responsibilities will include equipment maintenance, repairs, and coordination with various CASE departments, doctors, and team members.

Compensation:
$20-$23/hr based on experience
Key Responsibilities:
Assist CASE departments by supplying sterilized equipment, setting up and breaking down operating rooms (ORs), and supporting veterinarians during procedures.
Clean, disinfect, and sterilize all hospital instruments.
Stock and manage supplies for sterile ORs.
Maintain medical equipment and demonstrate a general knowledge of animal anatomy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated excellent judgment, high organizational skills, decision-making abilities, efficiency, accuracy, and strong attention to detail.
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening), along with independent problem-solving abilities and a compassionate attitude towards animals in our care.
Familiarity with surgical instruments (hemostats, scissors, thumb forceps) and their appropriate use for various procedures.
Understanding of disinfecting protocols for different procedures, bandaging, and general examinations.
Proficiency in deep cleaning protocols for ORs, OR halls, and pack/prep rooms.
Thorough knowledge of Surgical Scrub Protocol for both patient and personal preparation.
Proper handling and cleaning of surgical instruments, including familiarity with autoclave vs. EO sterilization (instruments and indicator strips).
Monitoring and re-sterilizing expired equipment as necessary.
Regular stocking and sterilization of infrequently used miscellaneous items (e.g., vet wrap).
Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organization in all OR rooms.
