Opened in May 2024, our brand-new, 24,000-square-foot hospital in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, delivers high-quality emergency and specialty care to pets across the greater Halifax Regional Municipality. Compensation
$19–$25/hour, based on skill level and assessment
$2.50/hour shift premium
Weekdays: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Weekends: Friday 5:00 p.m. – Monday 8:00 a.m
Schedule
Targeting three 12-hour shifts per week
Includes a mix of day, evening, and overnight hours—flexibility required

Position Overview As a Veterinary Assistant/Client Service Representative, you’ll be the first point of contact for clients and their beloved pets. We're looking for someone who truly values the client experience and is dedicated to remaining in a client-facing, front desk–focused role. You’ll play a key part in ensuring smooth communication, compassionate support, and a welcoming environment for every visitor. This is not a stepping-stone position—it’s a vital role at the heart of our hospital.
Responsibilities
Deliver outstanding customer service and communication
Greet clients and pets warmly upon arrival
Handle emergency situations with confidence and care
Manage multi-line phone system and respond to client inquiries
Provide updates to clients on pet status and wait times
Present treatment estimates and process payments
Support patient admissions, discharges, and medical recordkeeping
Maintain cleanliness throughout the hospital
Collaborate closely with medical teams to support patient care
Additional administrative or support tasks as needed
Requirements
Prior experience in a veterinary hospital or emergency setting strongly preferred
Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a team environment
Comfortable using electronic medical records and handling sensitive client information
Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role.
