We are seeking a compassionate and skilled General Practice Veterinary Technician to join our general practice team. You will assist veterinarians with exams and procedures, handle lab work and medications, manage client interactions, and help maintain a clean, organized workspace. Compensation
- Credentialed Technicians: $27 - $37/hr. based on experience
- Non-Credentialed Technicians: $24 - $32/hr. based on experience

Job Description
The General Practice Veterinary Technician provides essential support to veterinarians by preparing exam rooms, assisting with procedures, performing patient restraint, collecting lab samples, administering medications and fluids, and delivering compassionate patient care. This role also includes managing client interactions, coordinating appointments and discharges, maintaining medical records, and ensuring exam rooms and equipment are clean and well-stocked. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, familiar with canine and feline care protocols, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate the doctor’s daily schedule and prepare the exam room for each appointment, including retrieval of vaccines, and tools needed for exam (otoscope, muzzles, etc.).
- Greet clients in the waiting room and escort to the exam room; obtain the patient’s body weight, reason for visit and brief history.
- Be familiar with vaccines and vaccine protocols for canines and felines.
- Perform and assist with all aspects of animal restraint for exams and procedures.
- Obtain necessary samples for lab work (urine, blood).
- Sedate patients as directed by doctor.
- Prepare lab forms for all in-hospital or outside lab work.
- Admit patients to the hospital following all admission protocols.
- Assist doctors with euthanasia procedures, including IV catheter placement, retrieval of prescribed drugs and restraint during procedure.
- Administration of SQ fluids, medications, etc. as per doctor’s orders.
- Perform basic grooming (ear cleaning, pedicures, anal gland expression, simple de-matting, etc.).
- Perform basic medical record keeping, patient care documentation and entering charges; perform basic computer skills.
- Use and be familiar with veterinary medical terminology.
- Clean, stock, and maintain exam rooms and workstations, including slide staining and microscope area.
- Check doctor’s voicemail and return calls as appropriate; relay lab work results to clients as appropriate; perform follow up calls for recently discharged and/ or sick patients.
- Confirm appointments and scheduled surgeries for the following day. Relay instructions for the admission process to clients.
- Complete tech appointments as scheduled.
- Assist with patient discharges as needed.
Qualifications
- LVT, CVT, or RVT credential preferred
- Two or more years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician in a veterinary hospital.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computers, electronic medical records, and data entry.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency and critical care environment.
- Fluent English skills (speaking and reading) required.
- RECOVER CPR certification a plus.
