Veterinary Technician Manager - Hunt Valley, MD - Full Time



Pet + E.R in Hunt Valley, MD is hiring a full- time, experienced Veterinary Technician Manager to join our outstanding team!

Our Veterinary Technician Manager is a leader and is an integral part to the Pet+ER veterinary hospital leadership team. The Veterinary Technician Manager partners with the management team and the Hospital Director to provide a smooth and profitable operation by creating a hospital culture based on high quality emergency patient care and exceptional customer service. Responsibilities include managing, planning, and coordinating the hospital's overall operations and cultivating a supportive and collaborative team environment while working alongside the technician and assistant staff. A Veterinary Technician Manager leads by example and exemplifies caring, compassionate, dedicated behavior and speech.

Primary Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions:

Hospital Leadership & Operations

  • Partner with the Hospital and Medical Director to set strategic goals and ensure alignment across the practice.
  • Lead by example, upholding hospital policies and embodying caring, compassionate, and professional behavior.
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital and Ethos policies, including controlled substance regulations in collaboration with the inventory manager.
  • Champion change by identifying, documenting, and sharing best practices across departments.
  • Help maintain and promote a healthy, positive hospital culture.
  • Serve as liaison between the Hospital Director and specialty departments to foster strong interdepartmental relationships.
  • Partner with the hospital’s social worker to support both clients and staff.
  • Collaborate on the development and implementation of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in and contribute to regular management meetings and community outreach events.
  • Monitor and manage client concerns or escalations to ensure high levels of service.

Team Management & Development (Assistants, Technicians, Front Desk)

  • Oversee team scheduling, review hours for payroll, and ensure technician labor budgets are met or exceeded.
  • Manage the hiring process, including onboarding, orientation, and offboarding.
  • Conduct 90-day and annual performance evaluations for staff.
  • Provide ongoing staff feedback, coaching, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of staff issues and performance discussions.
  • Organize and lead quarterly staff meetings, leadership meetings, and training sessions.
  • Ensure staff have access to resources and support needed for professional growth and success.

Doctor Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Medical Director and doctor team to uphold best-in-class medical standards.
  • Support efficiency in patient care and hospital workflow by collaborating with doctors and shift leads.
  • Assist with doctor scheduling, managing PTO/CE requests, and handling emergency shift coverage.
  • Partner with the Medical Director to conduct quarterly 1:1 check-ins with doctors.

  • Flexible scheduling options.
  • Availability on nights and weekends as needed.

  • Compensation is based on experience & skill set. $60,000 - $75,000/ annually. 
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technicians are highly encouraged to apply!

Education & Experience:
  • High school or equivalent (required).
  • Veterinary Leadership Experience 2- 3 years in a specialty setting.
  • RVT preferred but not required.
