SAGE Redwood City is seeking an experienced veterinary professional to join our Specialty team as an Oncology Clinical Lead.

This hands-on leadership position combines advanced veterinary patient care with team leadership in a Specialty Oncology environment. You'll help support the daily operation of the Oncology service while working with complex cases, hospitalized patients, anesthesia, CT and staging diagnostics, and chemotherapy.

What You Bring

  • Previous veterinary leadership, lead, training, or supervisory experience.
  • Strong hands-on veterinary technical and patient care experience.
  • Oncology experience preferred, but not required.
  • Anesthesia and patient monitoring experience.
  • Experience caring for hospitalized patients receiving IV fluids and ongoing treatments.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to coach and support team members while remaining actively involved in patient care.
  • Experience in Specialty, Emergency, ICU, Internal Medicine, Surgery, or another advanced clinical environment is a plus.
  • Interest in developing advanced Oncology skills, including chemotherapy administration and Oncology diagnostics.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will

  • Provide hands-on leadership and clinical support to the Oncology team.
  • Help coordinate daily workflow, patient care, staffing needs, and service priorities.
  • Coach, mentor, and support Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants in their clinical development.
  • Partner with Specialty leadership and the medical team to promote efficient, collaborative patient care.
  • Support hospitalized Oncology patients, including patients receiving IV fluids, medications, and ongoing treatments.
  • Assist with anesthesia preparation, monitoring, and patient recovery.
  • Support CT imaging, routine staging diagnostics, sample collection, and Oncology case workups.
  • Develop the skills needed to safely prepare, handle, and administer chemotherapy in accordance with hospital protocols and your permitted scope.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure clinical protocols and safety standards are followed.
  • Help foster a positive, accountable, and team-focused culture within the Oncology service.
