Registered Veterinary Technician – Neuro & Anesthesia
Up to $40.00/hour (based on experience and skill set) + $5.50/hour shift differential for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM

SAGE Veterinary Centers – Redwood City is seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our Neurology & Anesthesia team. This role is ideal for an experienced RVT with a passion for anesthesia, advanced diagnostics, and exceptional patient care. You'll work alongside board-certified neurologists while playing a critical role in safely anesthetizing and monitoring patients undergoing MRI and other specialized procedures.

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will:
- Perform pre-anesthetic assessments, IV catheter placement, induction, intubation, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery.
- Monitor anesthesia and ensure patient safety during MRI procedures.
- Safely operate anesthesia and patient monitoring equipment within the MRI environment while following all MRI safety protocols.
- Assist board-certified neurologists during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Maintain accurate anesthesia records and patient documentation.
- Provide exceptional nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
- Collaborate closely with veterinarians, RVTs, and support staff to ensure efficient patient care and workflow.
- Communicate with clients regarding patient care, procedures, and recovery as needed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly functioning anesthesia and monitoring equipment.
- Assist in optimizing workflows and improving processes that support the continued growth of the MRI service.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative hospital culture focused on exceptional patient outcomes.
What You Bring
- Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license.
- Five or more years of anesthesia monitoring experience; MRI experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of anesthetic medications, patient monitoring, and anesthesia safety protocols.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple hospital departments.
- Commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care.
- Ability to safely work in an MRI environment. Candidates with certain metallic implants, pacemakers, or other MRI-incompatible devices may not meet the safety requirements for this position.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand for extended periods, and maintain focus during lengthy procedures.
- Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail for anesthesia monitoring and patient care.
