Schedule: Full Time | 3rd Shift | 6pm-6:30am | Rotating Schedule: Week 1: Tues. Wed. Sat. Week 2: Sun, Thurs, Fri | One On-Call Weekend Shift Per Month 

Compensation: $25-35/hr | $35+ for VTS Credentials | $3/hour Shift Differential from 7pm-7am Mon. through Fri. and all day Sat. & Sun. | On-Call Pay 1.5x hourly rate if called in

We are offering a $5000 hiring bonus for this position!

In Your Day-To-Day, You Will

  • Evaluate and triage emergency patients as they arrive, partnering with veterinarians to develop and carry out appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.
  • Deliver high-quality nursing care by administering treatments, carefully monitoring hospitalized patients, recognizing changes in their condition, and prioritizing their comfort and well-being.
  • Apply advanced technical skills, including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostic sample collection, radiography, anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery, surgical nursing, and other procedures within your scope of practice.
  • Support efficient patient flow throughout the Emergency and Critical Care department while maintaining accurate medical records and consistently meeting high standards of patient care.
  • Communicate compassionately with clients by providing patient updates, explaining treatment plans, and offering support throughout the admission, care, and discharge process.
  • Partner with veterinarians and other technicians in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment to help achieve exceptional patient outcomes.
  • Contribute to a positive hospital culture by collaborating with and supporting your colleagues while continuing to build your clinical skills through ongoing education and professional development.

What You Bring

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT, CVT, LVT, or equivalent) with well-developed technical skills in IV catheter placement, venipuncture, anesthesia induction and monitoring, patient preparation and recovery, surgical nursing, dental prophylaxis, radiography, and perioperative patient care.
  • Prior veterinary medicine experience and a passion for providing exceptional patient care within a fast-paced emergency and specialty setting.
  • A team-first, collaborative approach, along with the initiative to step in wherever needed and assist your colleagues in achieving the best possible patient outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to educate clients, collaborate effectively with veterinarians and other team members, and adjust your communication style for different situations.
  • The composure, flexibility, and ability to remain calm while caring for critically ill patients and guiding clients through emotional, high-pressure circumstances.
  • Effective organizational abilities, strong clinical judgment, and the capacity to prioritize responsibilities while remaining attentive to detail in a dynamic hospital environment.
  • A dedication to ongoing learning and professional development, with genuine enthusiasm for strengthening your technical abilities through continuing education and mentorship.

Our Dayton location was established in 2008, and through the years our team has proudly cared for thousands of pets in this AAHA accredited hospital. In June of 2019, we moved to a brand new, 15,000 square foot facility. Our new hospital, located next door to our previous location, is home to 24-hour Emergency Care, Cardiology, and Radiology, Surgery. Our hospital is also AAHA accredited.
