Specialists in Companion Animal Neurology (SCAN) is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our specialty Neurology & Surgery team in Naples, FL. This is an opportunity to work directly alongside board-certified neurologists and neurosurgeons while developing advanced skills in anesthesia, surgery, neurology, and specialty patient care.

Compensation

• $20–$30/hr starting pay based on experience, skills, and credentials
• Up to $5,000 sign-on bonus available for Licensed Veterinary Technicians (CVT/LVT/RVT)
• Up to $2,500 sign-on bonus available for experienced unlicensed Veterinary Technicians
• After-hours surgical on-call rotation with 1.5x pay
• Additional bonus opportunities may be available for participation in the surgical on-call rotation

Schedule

• Full-time
• Four 10-hour shifts per week
• Day shift: 9:00 AM–7:00 PM
• Overnight shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Participation in an after-hours surgical on-call rotation

Responsibilities

As a Veterinary Technician at SCAN, you will provide hands-on nursing and technical support for patients undergoing advanced neurologic diagnostics, surgery, and treatment.

• Assist board-certified neurologists and neurosurgeons with patient consultations, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
• Provide anesthesia support and continuous patient monitoring during advanced neurologic and surgical procedures
• Perform anesthesia monitoring and recognize changes in patient condition
• Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture and laboratory sample collection
• Provide inpatient nursing care and ongoing monitoring for hospitalized patients
• Assist with MRI procedures and advanced neurologic diagnostics
• Prepare patients for surgery and provide intraoperative and postoperative support
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the medical team
• Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
• Educate clients regarding patient care, medications, treatment plans, and discharge instructions
• Communicate changes in patient status promptly and effectively with the medical team
• Collaborate closely with specialists and other Veterinary Technicians to provide high-quality patient care
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient treatment and surgical environment

Qualifications

• Previous Veterinary Technician experience required
• Credentialed Veterinary Technicians (CVT/LVT/RVT) are strongly encouraged to apply
• Experienced unlicensed Veterinary Technicians with advanced surgical or specialty experience will also be considered
• Experience in neurology, surgery, anesthesia, emergency, or specialty veterinary medicine preferred
• Strong technical skills in anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, inpatient nursing, and laboratory procedures
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative specialty team
• Strong communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills
• Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused approach to veterinary medicine
• Commitment to continued learning and development of advanced Veterinary Technician skills
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
