Sterile Processing Technician - Charleston, SC - Full Time

The Charleston Veterinary Referral Center is hiring a full- time Sterile Processing Technician to join our outstanding Surgery team!

 

Compensation: $25-30/ hr based on experience and skill level

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 hour shifts

CVRC located in beautiful Charleston, SC is the ONLY VECCS Level 1 certified facility in South Carolina, and 1 of only 2 in the southeast region of the United States!

We currently have a 16,000 square foot, state of the art facility with plans to grow in the new year. Our emergency center is staffed 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to always support our community!

Specialty services offered at CVRC include cardiology, internal medicine, neurology & neurosurgery, medical oncology (radiation oncology coming soon!), rehabilitation, soft tissue & orthopedic surgery. Our hospital houses an MRT, CT, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and digital radiographs for diagnostic imaging.

About the Role: The Sterile Processing Technician will work alongside the Sterile Processing Assistant and surgery team with cleaning and preparing operating rooms. This position will ensure smooth operations of the surgery inventory.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: 

  • Weekly, monthly, and quarterly inventories of surgery equipment/supplies; coordinating with inventory team as needed. 
  • Ordering new supplies/instruments for surgery as needed. Unpacking, checking and stocking new equipment, instruments and devices. Troubleshooting instruments and equipment; liaison to repair companies.
  • Sterilizing instruments with Ethelyne Oxide and Steam methodization. Cleaning, assembling, and inspecting instruments, cleaning operating rooms, stocking the hospital and surgery suites with supplies and sterile instrumentation. Ensuring equipment needed for upcoming procedures are in house, sterilized, and ready for use. 
  • Laundering cloth items.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a sterile processing in a hospital or outpatient facility, either human or veterinary medicine. Previous experience working in veterinary medicine preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus
