Looking for a Veterinary Technician role where you can grow your emergency and critical care skills while working alongside an experienced, supportive team?

Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital of West Toronto is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician (RVT/LVT/CVT) to join our Emergency Department in Mississauga, Ontario. Whether you're already working in emergency medicine or you're a strong GP technician ready to transition into ER, you'll have the opportunity to build advanced technical skills, work with a wide variety of emergency cases, and practice at the top of your license in a collaborative 24/7 emergency and referral hospital.

Compensation
  • $28–$35/hour based on experience and skillset
  • $2/hour overnight differential (8:00 PM–7:00 AM)
  • $3,000 sign-on bonus
Schedule
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Rotating days and overnights
  • Every other weekend required

Responsibilities
As a Veterinary Technician in our Emergency Department, you'll work closely with DVMs and fellow RVTs to provide exceptional patient care for urgent, emergent, and critical cases.
  • Triage and emergency patient assessment
  • Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  • Monitoring hospitalized patients and delivering nursing care
  • Patient vitals and ongoing treatment monitoring
  • Anesthesia support, surgical preparation, and recovery
  • Diagnostic imaging, including radiographs
  • ECG monitoring
  • Laboratory sample collection and processing
  • Client communication and education
  • Assisting with emergency procedures and treatments
Advanced technical skills may include:
  • Central line placement assistance
  • Urinary catheter placement
  • NG tubes and nasal cannulas
  • Chest tubes
  • Feeding tubes
  • Blood transfusions
  • Advanced CPR (RECOVER training provided)

Qualifications
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required; CVT/LVT equivalents considered
  • Emergency or critical care experience preferred, but strong GP Veterinary Technicians looking to transition into ER are encouraged to apply
  • Strong anesthesia and patient care skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work efficiently in a fast-paced emergency environment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Passion for emergency medicine and continued learning
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
