Veterinary Training Specialist

Mission (Kansas City metro), KS - Full Time





 

We are looking for a full time Veterinary Technician Training Specialist to support our locations in both Mission and Overland Park!

The Training Specialist is a leader and an integral member of the hospital team. The Training Specialist (TS) coaches to provide a smooth and successful new hire and current employee experience while creating a hospital culture based on high quality patient care and exceptional customer service.

Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

· Collaborates in a leadership role with the Training and Development Manager as the “owners” of the employee’s success.

· Demonstrate solid veterinary skills, highest level of client and patient service and be a role model for the team.

· Accomplishes Training and Development Department objectives by training staff and organizing and monitoring work processes.

· Accomplishes results by enabling employees and new hires through coaching, counseling and hands-on assistance and assisting with implementation of learning goals for staff.

· Assist to coordinate scheduling of new staff training with shift supervisors, hospital administrators and/or Training and Development Manager.

· Collaborates and provides support and documentation for 90 day and annual reviews.

· Implements systems, policies and procedures, medical protocols, and client interactions.

· Lead new hire and coach meetings to ensure appropriate information is being communicated throughout the hospital.

· Oversees the new hire’s schedule and facilitates communications with supervisors and department leads.

· Participates in the weekly and monthly planning and development meetings.

· Acts as a champion for change and identifies, documents, shares, and promotes best practices.

· Teaches equipment systems and works with Hospital Administrator/Operations Manager to resolve technical systems/equipment issues.

· Works with the Training and Development Manager to support staff training needs including CE, leadership skills, new course development, as required.

Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Solid working knowledge of veterinary hospital practice, including terminology

• Strong level of emotional intelligence (EQ) and leadership capabilities

• Outstanding client service skills

• Ability to think logically, problem-solve effectively and anticipate the needs teammates and clients

• Problem solving and conflict resolution skills

• Excellent oral, written, communication and organizational skills including reporting and data analysis

• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Email, and practice management software knowledge preferred)

• The ability to delegate responsibility and achieve results with hospital team members

• Must be able to handle multiple tasks and remain flexible with assigned duties

• Capable of championing change and driving innovative programs in the hospital

• Must be able to work well in team environment

• Capable of quality decision making

• Ability to coach, correct, develop and motivate employees

• Demonstrates excellent time and task management

• Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation with staff and clients

• Participates in a positive manner in all group sizes.

• Refrains from participating in gossip.

• Supports team members by assisting other areas, is receptive to feedback and suggestions.

• Engages in active problem-solving vs. problem-identifying.

• Makes suggestions related to client/patient service improvements and hospital efficiency.
