Position Overview As a key member of our oncology team, you will work alongside board-certified veterinary oncologists to provide compassionate, advanced care to patients undergoing cancer treatment. You will assist with chemotherapy administration, client education, diagnostics, and patient monitoring, ensuring the highest standards of safety and empathy.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with patient intake, restraint, and care for oncology patients.
Prepare and administer chemotherapy and other cancer therapies under the guidance of the oncologist.
Maintain strict safety and handling protocols for cytotoxic drugs.
Place IV catheters, collect samples, and monitor anesthesia (for RVTs).
Educate and support clients with compassion and professionalism.
Accurately document patient care and communicate effectively with the medical team.
Ensure cleanliness, sterility, and readiness of oncology treatment areas.
Monitor patient response and side effects, report abnormalities, and participate in case rounds
Qualifications
For RVT Candidates:
Current California RVT license in good standing.
At least 1 year of experience in specialty or emergency practice preferred.
Experience or strong interest in oncology and chemotherapy safety protocols.
For Senior Veterinary Assistant Candidates:
Minimum of 2 years in a clinical veterinary setting (specialty experience preferred).
Strong technical and animal handling skills.
Willingness to train and work within a highly specialized team environment.

Compensation & Schedule
Compensation is $26–$40 per hour, based on experience and skill set, plus a $5.50 differential for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM. This is a full-time position with a 4/10 schedule (four 10-hour shifts per week).
