As the first point of contact for our emergency and specialty hospital, you'll help create a compassionate, organized, and welcoming experience while supporting clients, patients, and our medical team every day.

Compensation

  • $19.50–$24.00/hour based on knowledge and experience

Schedule
  • Full-Time or Part-Time opportunities available
  • Full-Time schedule consists of four 9-hour shifts
  • Rotating weekends, evenings, and holidays
Responsibilities
  • Welcome clients and patients with warmth, professionalism, and compassion as the first point of contact for the hospital.
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and client inquiries with confidence while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Guide clients through every stage of their visit, from registration and gathering patient information to invoicing and checkout.
  • Help clients understand hospital processes, treatment plans, and associated charges.
  • Escalate medical concerns to the veterinary team to ensure clients receive timely guidance regarding their pet's condition.
  • Coordinate walk-in patient triage by notifying nursing staff and facilitating smooth patient handoffs.
  • Serve as the communication hub between clients, veterinarians, technicians, hospital leadership, and referring veterinarians (RDVMs).
  • Manage RDVM communications, including callbacks, faxes, and referral inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and process financial transactions.
  • Support reception operations while ensuring an organized, efficient, and welcoming environment.
Qualifications
  • Previous veterinary client service, veterinary receptionist, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for helping people and their pets.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced emergency and specialty hospital.
  • Comfortable communicating with clients experiencing emotional or stressful situations.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn veterinary practice management software.
  • Positive attitude with a collaborative, team-focused approach.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.

Like human medical specialists, VESH supports primary care veterinarians with the evaluation and treatment of pets affected by trauma, chronic issues, serious illness, or unusual disorders requiring advanced training, while also providing critical and emergency veterinary care.
