Licensed Veterinary Technician, Neurology | $30–$40/hour
Location: Plainview, NYSchedule: Full-Time | Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–6:30 PM
Compensation: $30–$40/hour, based on experience and skills
Long Island Veterinary Specialists (LIVS) is seeking an experienced Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our Neurology team in Plainview, NY. This full-time Veterinary Technician position offers a four-day workweek and the opportunity to build advanced specialty skills in neurology, anesthesia, diagnostic imaging, surgery, and complex patient care.

As a LVT on the Neurology team, you will work closely with the Neurologist and specialty team to support advanced diagnostics, procedures, treatment plans, and patient care.
- Assist the Neurologist with examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning, and patient care
- Prepare and monitor patients undergoing MRI, CT, spinal taps, and neurosurgical procedures
- Perform anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery for advanced procedures
- Provide nursing care and oversight for hospitalized neurology patients
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Obtain patient histories and assist with client education
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding patient care and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
- Assist with departmental workflow, inventory management, and quality control initiatives
- Collaborate with Veterinary Technicians, veterinarians, assistants, and other specialty and emergency services to provide comprehensive patient care
- Support LIVS' commitment to high-quality specialty and emergency veterinary medicine
- Current New York State Veterinary Technician License (LVT) required
- Passion for specialty medicine and exceptional patient care
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented animal hospital environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize competing responsibilities
- Professional, reliable, and compassionate approach to patient and client care
- Confidence in client communication and education
- Ability to collaborate effectively with veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, assistants, and client service teams
- Anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance experience preferred
- Neurology, advanced imaging, or specialty medicine experience is a plus
- Flexibility to support occasional weekend scheduling as needed
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout extended shifts
- Ability to safely lift and restrain animals weighing up to 40 pounds independently and heavier patients with assistance
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills necessary to operate medical equipment and assist with procedures
- Ability to remain focused and responsive in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment
- Adequate vision, hearing, and communication skills to monitor patient status and respond appropriately
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
