This role is ideal for someone ready to grow as a leader, balancing technical work with strategic hospital management. You'll collaborate with our team to ensure excellent patient care and smooth operations. The position involves 70% technical oversight and 30% administrative tasks, with flexible scheduling, including some overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts. We're looking for a proactive, adaptable individual to manage both clinical and administrative challenges.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership: (70% of Role)- Establish and maintain SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to ensure consistency and high-quality care.
- Lead and mentor technical staff, including onboarding, training new hires and overseeing staff development programs.
- Implement the technician leveling program to ensure growth and skill enhancement.
- Assist in the hiring process by participating in interviews and staff evaluations.
- Manage inventory and equipment, ensuring proper functionality and tracking of supplies.
- Serve as a backup technician when needed, stepping into direct patient care or technical roles to ensure smooth operations.
Administrative Responsibilities: (30% of Role)- Staff Training & Development: Organize staff meetings, continuing education, and training sessions to ensure high-quality patient care and customer service.
- Oversee scheduling of staff to ensure proper coverage across all shifts.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to ensure budget alignment and compliance with hospital policies.
- Manage employee performance through continuous coaching, evaluations, and performance improvement plans when necessary.
- Payroll and invoicing in the absence of the Hospital Director.
- Promote a positive work culture by fostering communication and teamwork among staff.
Qualifications:- 5+ years of Veterinary Technician experience.
- Credentialed Technician experience in an emergency veterinary setting (strongly preferred).
- Proven leadership in mentoring, training, and managing staff. Encompassing key skills, such as:
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication abilities.
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in veterinary software (EzyVet, Cornerstone, SmartFlow) and Microsoft Office.
- Highly skilled in performing all veterinary technician tasks with precision.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
- Experience in leading a diverse workforce and fostering a positive team environment.
Compensation and Benefits Offered:- Competitive salary based on experience at $65,000 - $75,000
