  • $31.51-37.58 /hour depending on experience

Position Overview:
The Veterinary Educator is responsible for leading and coordinating a comprehensive education program at MissionVet, encompassing the onboarding of new team members, ongoing staff development, and external continuing education programs for clinical services. This role also oversees the DVM and LVT extern and intern programs, with a focus on advancing the skillset and veterinary medical knowledge of the clinical teams.


In collaboration with medical leadership, the Veterinary Educator works to establish and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and excellence across the hospital. Additionally, they are responsible for the strategic planning and management of in-house Continuing Education (CE) initiatives and advanced training programs. Staying informed of industry developments and regulatory requirements, the Veterinary Educator ensures that MissionVet remains compliant and at the forefront of veterinary education and practice.

Key Responsibilities:
The Veterinary Educator will report directly to the Hospital Director, work closely with management and lead staff, and be responsible for the following initiatives and duties:
  • Coordinate, maintain, and execute the development, and delivery of uniform and consistent general hospital and departmental training processes, programs, resources, and manuals for clinical services roles at the organizational level.
  • Assist in new hire orientation, coordinate MVSE onboarding, complete general new hire training period for all new team members and maintain training files.
  • Plan, execute, and track ongoing team member training (mandatory and other topics as needs are identified) through routine testing and assessment. Gather routine feedback and training observations/recommendations from mentors or subject matter experts and clinical trainers for each new team member.
  • Ensure completion of specific task/procedure training for clinical skills by coordinating with appropriate team members. Facilitate additional clinical training as needed.
  • Schedule and coordinate internship programs.
  • Manage and submit CE lecture applications for both TBVME and RACE approval for newly created lectures.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Texas (preferably in Emergency/Critical Care, Anesthesia or other applicable specialties), tenured LVT candidates with extensive experience in ER/Specialty environment will also be considered.
  • Experience: Extensive background in veterinary clinical work, education, and training
  • Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, business communication, and event organization
  • Organizational Abilities: Highly organized with a proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects effectively
  • Decision-Making: Capable of making independent decisions to address daily challenges and determine the best course of action
  • Communication: Strong writing skills with excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation, adaptable to various writing styles including creative, professional, technical, and educational
  • Adaptability: Demonstrates a positive approach to the evolving healthcare environment by supporting technological advancements and process changes
  • Interpersonal Skills: Empathetic, values-driven, and committed to fostering a collaborative work environment
  • Problem Solving: Excellent listening and problem-solving abilities with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours as needed
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced computer skills with experience in office software and cloud-based platforms
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus
