Vista Veterinary Specialists is looking for a Per-Diem Client Care Specialist and a Per-Diem Veterinary Technician to join our team. Our 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital provides care in emergency critical care, internal medicine, surgery, radiology, and cardiology. We are the leader in specialty and emergency care in the Sacramento area! 

Per Diem Employee – An employee who is available to work as needed for coverage above and beyond the full time staff members in times of need for optimal patient care. Availability requirements are established by hospital necessity and shifts may vary, including day, swing, overnight, weekend, and holidays. Work at least one shift per 30 day period.

This position offers the opportunity for growth within our patient care and emergency/specialty services, with the flexibility of being able to choose which available shifts work with your schedule. 

Veterinary Technician/ Assistant

About You:

  • The ability to prioritize and adapt to a fast paced, fluid environment. 
  • Skilled in phlebotomy and IV catheter placement in canine and feline patients that are stable or compromised.
  • Possess a good overall knowledge of disease processes, medical math, stable anesthesia and pharmacology.
  • Must be able to prioritize patient hourly treatments and delegate tasks. Triage critical patients, recognize changes in patient status and report to the doctor, educate/update owners on patient status, and discharge patients from the hospital.
  • Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events.
  • Surgical assisting for minor (non-specialty) procedures.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate collaboratively. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 3+ years experience as a veterinary assistant/technician in a progressive general practice and/or 2 years in a specialty practice
  • CA RVT or Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) is required. 
Client Care Representative

Responsibilities and duties:
  • Welcome our clients in a friendly, helpful, and compassionate manner
  • Prepare and review documents and medical records accurately and completely
  • Educate and advise clients regarding Vista Veterinary Specialists services and practices 
  • Process appointments, emergencies, and client requests while always ensuring the highest quality of care and satisfaction for our clients
  • Process invoices and payments accurately
  • Update and maintain client/pet records and files in accordance with Vista Veterinary Specialists legal requirements
  • Assist with other administrative duties such as scanning, faxing, emailing, cleaning for example

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Vet med or working with animals Preferred!
  • Experience with EzyVet a PLUS
  • Availability to work at least one shift per month, nights, and weekends ensures flexibility and supports our team's success
  • A positive attitude and ability to stay calm under pressure-we’re looking for someone who can shine even in emergency and fast-paced situations
  • Strong communication and multi-tasking abilities are essential to thrive in our hospital environment
  • A commitment to maintaining the highest level of professionalism with both customers and colleagues is key to our culture
  • Proficiency with computer skills will help ensure smooth and efficient operations
