About the Job: Compensation Range:
RVT: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
SVA: $25.00 - $36.00 per hour
$5.50/hr differential paid for any hours worked between 6pm - 6am
Hiring Bonus:
RVT: $7,000
Senior VA: $5,000
Key Responsibilities: ER
Triage incoming patients
Monitor critical and fractious patients
Administer treatments and medications
Assist with diagnostic tests and emergency procedures
Ensure patient comfort and wellbeing
Communicate effectively with pet owners
Maintain equipment and supplies
Document patient care accurately
Engage in ongoing education and training
CCU:
You will play a crucial role in partnering with our CCU doctors, providing top-notch customer experiences, and delivering outstanding patient care.
Administer IV fluids, medications, and continuous rate infusions (CRIs)
Perform and interpret point-of-care diagnostics (blood gas, lactate, i-STAT)
Respond to emergencies and participate in CPR
Assist with emergency procedures (thoracocentesis, pericardiocentesis)
Triage incoming patients and communicate condition severity
Collaborate with criticalists, ER doctors, and the veterinary team
Prepare for and assist with diagnostic imaging (radiographs, ultrasound, CT/MRI)
Run and interpret in-house laboratory tests (CBC, chemistry, coag panels)
Collect and process lab samples (urine, feces, cytology, cultures)
Maintain accurate and timely medical records and treatment sheets
Communicate patient status updates to doctors and support staff
Update clients on patient condition as directed by DVMs
Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical recovery in critical cases
Keep patients clean, dry, and comfortable
Provide enrichment for long-term or neurologically impaired patients
Advocate for patient pain management and quality of life
Stock and maintain emergency supplies and equipment (crash carts, ventilators, syringe pumps)
Maintain cleanliness and biosecurity in the CCU
Demonstrate calmness under pressure and emotional resilience
Apply strong critical thinking and multitasking skills
Collaborate effectively with team members
Show compassion and empathy toward patients and clients
Work Schedule:
Swing shift
Full-Time positions, 4/10 schedule
Basic Required Qualifications:
High school diploma
3+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry
Ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices, estimates, and other position-related tasks
Maintain California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) within 60 days of hire or transfer (waived if a valid CA-RVT license is held)
CA-RVT license preferred but not required
