Internal Medicine Veterinary Assistant

Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital in Portsmouth, NH is looking for a talented individual that are eager to jump-start their career in the animal health field with the Internal Medicine Department. We are looking for a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant. We offer scholarships to the Purdue tech program and internal support to obtain your LVT/CVT.

The primary responsibility of the Veterinary Assistant is to provide support and assistance to the veterinary medical staff. The Veterinary Assistant must embody the culture of treating every client and colleague with the utmost courteous and attentive treatment possible, with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between owners and their pets.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including but not limited to the cleanliness of laundry, floors, and cages.
• Assist with basic animal restraint.
• Provide basic animal husbandry and hygiene between patients. 
• Ensure proper stocking of medical supplies and janitorial needs.
• Client Communications.
• Basic Medical Terminology

• Four 10-hour shifts
• Rotating Weekends

• TBD - pending skills assessment leveling

• Candidates with 1+ year(s) of experience in veterinary medicine required.
• Candidates must be able to perform basic animal restraint and hold basic knowledge of proper hygiene care and handling between patients.
• The right candidate will have a strong desire to work in a busy team environment and a commitment to developing long-term working relationships with colleagues, clients, and the community.
• Candidates must have excellent communication and organization skills.
• This caring professional will always ensure a positive and friendly environment
• Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to develop and maintain positive working relationships with other, support the team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of clients and other employees.
