The Animal Medical Center of Seattle, WA is hiring a full- time Veterinary Assistant to join our Neurology team! We are offering up to a $3000 hiring bonus for experienced Veterinary Assistants!
Summary:
As a Veterinary Neurology Assistant at Animal medical center of Seattle, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinary neurologist in delivering specialized care to animals with neurological disorders. Your responsibilities will include assisting in examinations, handling and restraining animals during procedures, administering medications, and providing post-operative care.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Restrains and lifts animals during examinations and treatments.
  • Displays competency in the general knowledge and nursing skills required to care for patients.
  • Assist the veterinary neurologist in conducting neurological examinations and diagnostic procedures.
  • Takes steps to maintain patient comfort through a clean and comfortable environment.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment for neurology procedures.
  • Assists in patient procedures and help provide post-operative care.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, stoop, and stand for long periods of time; can individually and frequently lift patients and inventory up to 40 pounds.
  • Administer medications as directed by the neurologist.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Collaborate with other veterinary professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Performs non-subjective laboratory work; proficient in the use of laboratory equipment including (but not limited to): Catalyst, ProCyte, iSTAT, SCA2000
  • Assists in equipment maintenance and regular quality control procedures. Troubleshoots equipment failure and reports issues to the Inventory Specialist
  • Cleans and sterilizes surgical instruments in a timely fashion. Reports broken or dull instruments to the Inventory Specialist
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners, providing updates on patient progress and post-treatment care instructions.
  • Provides outstanding customer service when triaging, gathering patient information and relevant history.
  • Enter client charges as needed.
  • Helps maintain a clean and fully stocked working environment for the veterinary team.
  • Attend CE courses/webinars or hands-on training as requested by the Training Specialist or Manager
  • Regularly attend staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with Shift Lead and Hospital Manager
  • Share holiday coverage and on call schedule.
  • Report any concerns, problems or staffing problems to management.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
  • Experience in advanced diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT) is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and the ability to learn new veterinary based software applications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful work environment.
    • Must be able to always maintain professionalism and composure.
  • Able to effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and the public in a professional manner.
  • Able to handle difficult clients.
  • Ability to speak, read and write the English language.
Education and Experience:
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills are required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or GED.
  • Has at least two years of veterinary experience (neurology or other specialty experience preferred).
Schedule:
  • Monday – Wednesday 7am - 7pm

Compensation:
  • Compensation is based on experience and skill level. $20 - 25/hr.
Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
