The Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center in Waukesha, WI is hiring Veterinary Assistants and Certified Veterinary Technicians to join our team!

Who you are: If you are dedicated to providing exceptional service to patients and colleagues, and are looking for the next step in your Veterinary Hospital career, we want to meet you! Veterinary Assistants are responsible for practicing and demonstrating competency in AVMA-required skills, while assisting Certified Veterinary Technicians with the care and treatment of patients in the hospital. Veterinary Technicians are also responsible for nursing care, phlebotomy, anesthesia monitoring, client communications, and medical record keeping. Our assistants and Technicians are our greatest advocates for patient care and are self-motivated, with a passion for veterinary medicine!

Schedule:
  • Full-time and part-time positions are available based on current hospital needs.
  • Hiring for Emergency and Specialty Departments as needed, every other weekend dependent on department.
  • We will work around your class schedule!
Compensation:
  • Assistant starting pay at $15 and Technician starting pay at $21, and may be higher based on experience.
  • Shift differentials offered for second and third shift hours. 
  • On call stipends for Technicians on anesthesia services.
  • Eligible for pay increases upon earning AVMA and CVT certifications.   
Basic required qualifications:
  • Current enrollee or graduate of an accredited veterinary technician program.
  • Complete the veterinary technology program and pass the VTNE within 2 years of your start date.
  • Follow safety practices to avoid injuries to self and others!
  • Calm, professional demeanor.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable time management, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills; working efficiently and effectively throughout the hospital with appropriate follow-through and accuracy.
  • Understand and follow established hospital processes and procedures.
  • Tech savvy, with basic proficiency in the usage of a computer and general business applications
  • Able to work well independently, as well as in a collaborative environment with a team.
  • Commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and the community.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Baseline skill set such as restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement and general nursing care experience is required. General anesthesia knowledge is a plus!
