Licensed Veterinary Technician - Emergency & Critical Care

Capital District Veterinary Referral Hospital is looking for a Full-time, Licensed Veterinary Technician for our 24/7 Emergency and Critical Care Department.  Capital District is a growing referral practice with and Emergency and Critical Care, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, and other specialty services in the works.

As an LVT in the Emergency and Critical Care department you will be responsible for:

  • Triaging incoming patients and managing clients throughout their visit
  • Partner with Emergency Veterinarians and Criticalists in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • Obtaining and processing lab samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates in-house along with operating Abaxis and NOVA lab equipment
  • Placement and maintenance of intravenous catheters, central lines, and urinary catheters
  • Utilize different modalities of imaging for patient assessment
  • Executing, monitoring, and recovering assigned sedation and anesthetic events

Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital setting as an LVT required. Recent graduates with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology will be considered.

  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Work well independently and in a team environment
  • Strong computer skills to work with a paperless information system.
  • Flexible, cooperative, dependable, responsible, and good time-management skills
